Arjun,

Thanks for the update. I guess being bogged down in SIP/IMS development for the last 6 years, I've some what lost track of the deployment scenarios :).

Keep up the good work !

Cheers,
Gaurav

www.gauravkheterpal.tk

Hi gaurav, it depends on the perspective of the comment.

South Korea and Japan have deployed triple play services for over 2 years now (phone+TV+internet). EU has around 15 IPTV deployment over the last year. In north america, Verizon FiOS has deployed triple play. As far as wimax is concerned, most of the developing countries have gone ahead in wimax deployments - wateem, in pakistan, is IMS over WiMAX. In india, wimax deployments are in trial (BSNL). North America has several deployments planned for 08 (Grand Rapids,Sprint-Nextel).

So triple play is here for the past 2-3 years depending on which country you are talking about. Quadruple (add mobility) is aleady being trialed in asia-pacific.

I browsed throught the white paper & it was an interesting read. When IMS was born, there was all the talk of providing a unfiorm service delivery platform for dual/ triple/ quadruple play over hetrogenous networks. Though 3GPP has done a commendable job on IMS, I don't think IMS has still gained universal acceptance as yet.

Further, I don't think WiMax has lived up to the expectations with which it was conceptualized.

All in all, I believe that providing seamless quadruple play services across hetrogenous networks is still a distant reality.

Cheers,
Gaurav

Gtalk: gaurav.kheterpal
